Blodyn yr Haul

Blodyn yr Haul is an expressive celebration of the sunflower, capturing its warmth, strength and radiant energy through layered texture and bold, gestural brushwork. Inspired by my awe of Van Gogh’s iconic sunflower paintings, this piece reflects my lifelong view of sunflowers as the true flower of summer, symbols of light, resilience and joy.

Drawing on my Welsh heritage and my deep connection to nature, the painting transforms a familiar bloom into a vibrant, living presence. Thick, textured strokes create a tactile surface full of movement, inviting the viewer to experience the vitality of the sunflower up close.
