Blodyn Haul Coch

Blodyn Haul Coch continues my exploration of the sunflower as a symbol of warmth, resilience and summer light. Inspired by my lifelong awe of Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings, this piece celebrates the sunflower in a new way, featuring striking red sunflowers that set it apart from Blodyn yr Haul. Their bold, fiery tones bring a fresh intensity and a different emotional atmosphere to the series.

With rich texture and expressive, gestural brushwork, the painting brings each bloom to life through movement, colour and depth. Drawing on my Welsh heritage and my deep connection to nature, Blodyn Haul Coch offers a vibrant, uplifting presence, transforming the familiar sunflower into something unique, energetic and full of character.
